Banks
are open until 3pm Monday to Thursday and until 5pm on Fridays.
Do not go at lunch times and /
or avoid Fridays altogether if possible as they get very
busy. Some banks now open on Saturday mornings.
UK
travellers - the Cirrus sign is clearly marked, for
example outside Bank of Canada, where you can draw
cash using UK Switch cards. We find this a far easier and
less risky way of getting money - and you only draw what
you
need so don't end up with $BD
or $US that need changing back
when you return. You can usually draw up to $BD
1000
per day (about £340)
Use
a map of Bridgetown (Barbados
capital) to plan your shopping spree. Parking is pleasantly
inexpensive.
The three easiest places to park are Carlisle Car Park,
Independence Car Park and City Centre Car Park (indoors)
The
best time to travel to Bridgetown is around 9am before the
midday heat and after the morning rush hour
(if you travel by bus 8 - 9 or 3 - 4.30pm you'll regret
it!)
Or
go to the Sheraton Centre, just off the ABC Highway in Christ
Church, which houses 70 speciality stores
and trendy cobblestone Food Court with 15 restaurants. Supercentre's
flagship store JB's Mastermart is nearby.
You'll
be amazed at the many fabulous buys you'll find from both
local and international designers and
Duty Free shopping is now available in many of the leading
shops and boutiques nationwide.

I recommend this store as it has reasonably priced clothes
for teenagers and young adults. Good selection of men's
and women's clothing with some designer brands eg Tommy
Take a look! I get more of my clothes from here than any
other outlet on the West Coast. Emma
